Right before the 2024 Puerto Rican & Hispanic Day Parade, Los Artistas del Barrio Buffalo (LADB) were commissioned to paint the newest buffalo in town, lovingly named Benito.
Last year we asked for community input- we wanted to know what types of visuals and messaging people wanted to see on Benito. We received hundreds of images from children and adults alike. What was the common denominator? PRIDE. VIBRANCY. LOVE. We heard that loud and clear!
LADB is very proud of what we were able to accomplish as a collective, highlighting the talents of 5 of our visual artists- Aileen Gonzalez-Marti, Jhonny Gonzalez, Nino Morales (Amapola Arts), Rocio Ramallo, and Vinny Alejandro- and coming up with a powerful symbol of the pride, vibrancy and love of Latinos in Western New York.
Make sure to head to the Puerto Rican & Hispanic Day Parade on August 16 in beautiful Buffalo, NY and watch Benito the Buffalo ride up La Avenida de San Juan in style with Los Artistas del Barrio Buffalo!
Find us after the parade at the Youth Activity tent. You will love our arts activity this year…wearable art for everyone! Eso!
