LADB Shows Up For Hispanic Heritage Month with Free Youth Activities and Annual Event

  • Los Artistas del Barrio Buffalo Buffalo, New York United States (map)

LADB is ready to get back at it!

COVID-19 caused so much chaos in our community. LADB, like many other organizations, businesses, schools, and institutions had to cancel events that were meant to spread positivity and possibility to all in the City of Good Neighbors.

COVID-19 ain’t stopping Hispanic Heritage Month 2020! And we are here to make sure that we offer opportunities for our community that meet our mission and celebrate our people.

Below please find 2 events we are spearheading for Hispanic Heritage Month 2020. For more information on what other organizations are doing, please check out 2020’s robust calendar at www.hispanicheritagewny.org.

Latino/a/x Diaspora Chalk Walk, Historic Rubbings & Youth Art Supply Giveaway

LADB will be hosting a FREE LIVE ON-SITE FAMILY EVENT in collaboration with Friends of Broderick Park. We will be engaging families in a chalk walk experience that allows for exploration of the Latino/a/x diaspora in a space that is sacred for many of our Black brothers and sisters. Broderick Park was part of the Underground Railroad, where enslaved people went to find freedom across the treacherous Niagara River into Canada.

Chalk and art supplies will be given to all children under 16 while supplies last.

All safety precautions will be taken into account: all LADB members and their families wearing masks and gloves; 6 feet of space between chalk drawing spaces will be measured; individual bags for art supplies will be distributed; and hand sanitizer will be available.

Time: 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Location: Broderick Park, 1170 Niagara Street, Buffalo, NY at the foot of West Ferry off Niagara St.

Claramente

A Los Artistas del Barrio Buffalo Virtual Arts Extravaganza #V.

Every year since the creation of LADB in 2016, we have held our biggest event of the year- we called it an “arts extravaganza” and it stuck. This event has grown beyond our wildest dreams with LADB musicians, poets, artists, and performers doing their thing and inviting our friends and supporters to join us in our jubilation.

This year we had to take a different look at how we could share our passion. And with this STREAMED PERFORMANCE & VIRTUAL EXHIBITION being our 5th annual event, we thought it apt to have Claramente: Arts Extravaganza V not only stand for 5 but for Virtual.

The title of our event, Claramente (“Clearly” in English) is appropriate for our times. So much has become more visible: racial injustice, economic disparity, healthcare inequities, educational imbalances. This pandemic has made it crystal clear that it has no preference who it attacks and hurts. It reminds us that we are all human, humans that deserve happiness, health, safety and financial stability. In its cruelty, it has awaken us. We can see beyond ourselves, claramente.

Time: 8:00 PM- 9:00 PM

Location: Facebook Premier Event Watch Party on Los Artistas del Barrio page

This is a Free Event-Donations are gladly accepted .
